Zonta Club of Birmingham Encourages Women to Vote in 2024 General Election

As the November 5, 2024, general election approaches, the Zonta Club of Birmingham is making voter participation a top priority. The club’s Advocacy Committee has taken a significant step this year by launching a new initiative to encourage more women to vote, recognizing the critical role that women’s voices play in shaping our society.

Historically, Zonta Club has sponsored highway bulletin boards for its annual “Zonta Says No” campaign, which runs during the 16 Days of Activism from November 25 to December 10. This year, however, the Advocacy Committee has expanded its outreach with an additional bulletin board that will remain in place throughout the entire month of October. Positioned at the intersection of I-65 North and Oxmoor Road in Birmingham, the sign is designed to capture attention with its bold message: “Women * Vote” and “Our Voices Matter.”

The simple yet impactful design aims to inspire women passing by to make their voices heard in the upcoming election. The bulletin serves as a powerful reminder of the importance of civic engagement, especially as women continue to advocate for equality and representation. Visitors are also directed to the Zonta Club of Birmingham’s website at www.zontabirmingham.org for further information and resources on how to get involved.

This is the first time the Zonta Club of Birmingham has utilized a pre-election bulletin board as part of its advocacy efforts. The club hopes that this new initiative will encourage more women to not only vote in this election but also to recognize the power and influence they hold in shaping policies that affect their lives, communities, and the nation.

For over a century, Zonta International has been at the forefront of advancing the status of women worldwide. Through advocacy, education, and service, Zonta remains committed to promoting gender equality and supporting women in all aspects of life. As part of this mission, the Zonta Club of Birmingham is proud to support efforts that increase voter participation and ensure that every woman’s voice is heard.
