The Birmingham club is made up of women leaders at the top of their profession from a variety of industries that are committed to helping women in the local community as well as supporting the Zonta International mission.
There are many women from countries around the world that face poverty, lack of education, or even access to basic health care on a daily basis. In addition, many are exploited or live in communities where women are considered second-class citizens.
Our projects help women who are domestically abused and support efforts to provide vital health care to women and children. We support raising the child marriage age and abolishing human trafficking. We offer college scholarships to women. Zonta International works with the United Nations to provide financial support and technical assistance to women and children in developing countries.
The Zonta Club of Birmingham was chartered in 1940 and is part of Area 1 in the 11th District covering the US-Southeast (see below) and includes 45 regional clubs.
