“The Zonta Club of Birmingham today celebrates Human Rights Day, observed throughout the world as a recognition of the worth of all human beings and a call to promote equality and justice for all. The 16 Days of Activism beginning on November 25, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, and ending on Human Rights Day today are a time for Zonta Clubs from over 60 countries to call attention to the need to combat gender based violence in all its forms. For the third year in a row, Zonta Club of Birmingham reminds the public that violence against women is unacceptable through an e-billboard on I-65 in Homewood, AL. This Zonta Says No billboard also gives a hotline number for domestic violence victims to get help. Recognizing that the stress of the holidays can increase domestic violence and that the pandemic has severely increased reports of violence all over the world, Zonta Club of Birmingham will leave the billboard up through early January.
