Join Zonta Club of Birmingham and Cindy Lowry (League of Women Voters of Greater Birmingham) on September 1, 2022, in a discussion about the importance of democracy, upcoming elections, voting, and ways to actively participate in government by understanding & influencing public policy.

Cindy Lowry is the 2022-23 Board President of the League of Women Voters of Greater Birmingham (AL/US).  A native of Alabama (US), Cindy was raised in the small town of Oneonta and from a young age was taught the importance of civic engagement through activities such as campaigning for her father for city council and being a page in the Alabama legislature.

After receiving her BS degree in Wildlife Science from Auburn University and her Master of Public Administration degree from the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB), Cindy combined her passion for the environment with her deep commitment to civic engagement through her career as the Executive Director of the Alabama Rivers Alliance, a statewide environmental advocacy organization.

Cindy has more than 20 years of experience in the environmental nonprofit sector in Alabama.  In addition to her volunteer work with the League, she formerly served as the president of the board of directors for Alabama Arise and was a long-time member of the board of directors for the Friends of the Locust Fork River.
