Helen Smith is a native of Alabama and graduate of Jacksonville State University, Jacksonville Alabama with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice. Mrs. Smith began her career with the Federal Bureau Investigation (FBI), Birmingham Division in March 1997. In her current position as the Victim Specialist, she coordinates the Birmingham Field Office Victim Assistance Program, ensuring all federal crime victims are aware of community resources, notified of case status, and given support during the federal criminal justice system. It’s important to her that crime victims are offered community referrals in a timely manner and then address their needs through a victim-centered approach.
