Irene Amrine is a Ukrainian American who now lives in Phoenix, AZ working as a manager in genetics operations at a cutting-edge oncology testing company Caris Life Sciences. Irene’s family immigrated to the US from Ukraine in 1997. Political and economic uncertainty forced them to leave. When the unthinkable happened in February of 2022, Irene helped form a volunteer movement and a passion project called Cactus and Tryzub. Cactus & Tryzub is a volunteer-supported initiative aimed to keep the spotlight on Ukraine in Phoenix, Arizona through activism, events, fundraising, political advocacy, and refugee support. Through this volunteer initiative, Irene continues her family’s legacy and generational fight for freedom and independence for Ukraine.
